You can easily customize, reduce, or pause your Roommates.com email and SMS text alerts directly from your account's Notification Settings.

How to Access Notification Settings:

  • On a Desktop Browser: Click the Menu Icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner > select Notification Settings.

  • On a Mobile Browser:Tap the Menu Icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner > select Notification Settings.

  • In the iOS App: Tap your More in the bottom menu > select Notification Settings.

Notification Categories & Delivery Options:

Inside your Notification Settings, you can adjust Email/SMS text preferences for individual notification types, adjust the frequentcy of certain notifications, or disable specific notifications entirely. 

  • New Matches: Get notified when new roommates who fit your preferences join the platform. 

    • Delivery options: Email and SMS.

    • Frequency options: Daily, Every 3 days, or Weekly.

  • New Favorites: Get notified when another user adds your listing or profile as a favorite. 

    • Delivery options: Email and SMS.

    • Frequency options: Daily, Every 3 days, or Weekly.

  • New Messages: Receive an alert when someone sends you a message while you are offline. 

    • Delivery options: Email and SMS.

  • Missed Video Calls: Receive an alert if a potential roommate attempts to video call you while you are unavailable. 

    • Delivery options: Email and SMS.

  • Unreplied Messages: Receive a daily reminder summary of pending messages in your inbox. 

    • Delivery options: Email and SMS.

  • Latest News: Receive periodic updates, announcements, and tips from Roommates.com. 

    • Delivery option: Email only.

Managing Text (SMS) Notifications:

Enabling SMS notifications signs you up for recurring automated texts for your selected categories.

  • Frequency & Rates: Message frequency depends on your account activity and custom settings. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile provider.

  • Opting Out via Text: You can opt out of SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP to any text message sent from Roommates.com. Reply HELP for text-based assistance.

  • Service Consent: Consenting to SMS text messages is completely voluntary and is not a requirement to use Roommates.com.

Unsubscribing via Email:

Most promotional and update emails from Roommates.com contain an Unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking this link will instantly opt you out of that specific email type without requiring you to log in.

ℹ️ Operational Emails Note: Essential account emails (including password reset links, welcome messages, security alerts, and payment confirmation receipts) are required for account operation and cannot be disabled.
