Can I use Roommates.com if I live outside the United States?

FAQs ·

You can use Roommates.com to look for a room if you plan to move to the U.S. soon. International users traveling on student or work visas are welcome to create an account to secure a roommate near their future university or employer before they arrive.

You cannot list properties located outside of the United States. Our location database is exclusively configured for U.S. addresses, meaning we cannot accommodate or display rental listings for rooms located in other countries.

You must live in the advertised property with your future roommate. The "I have a room" option is strictly for individuals who intend to share their primary, U.S.-based residence. It cannot be used by traditional landlords or property managers listing unshared, vacant rental properties.

You can still list your room if you occasionally travel abroad. Frequent travel for work or international studies does not affect your eligibility, provided the advertised home remains your primary U.S. residence where you intend to live alongside your new roommate.

⚠️Please Remember:

  • You must have a phone number with a +1 country code to complete mandatory account verification.

  • You cannot advertise a physical property for rent which is located outside of the United States.

  • You must intend to share the advertised property with a potential roommate if you have an available room to rent.
